Are Designer Handbags Good Value?

By Lee MacRae

One of the latest fashion trends is the designer handbag. Just about everyone like your sister or your podiatrists wants a handbag by Cole Haan. But when you consider the expense of buying one of these designer handbags, the question that we have to ask is, are we spending our money wisely?

For most people, of course, they want to make sure their hard earned money is used wisely. They need to know if a American Eagle purse is worth the expanse. Is going to last? The short answer is, yes they are worth. And the reasons why?

There is some truth to the oftten heard statement, "you will pay for the name". But you should also realize you will pay for quality when you buy a name brand product. The best bags made by BCBG or Vera Bradley are made with only the best leathers available.

Want a hint to know what you're getting? Top designer handbags will always have a fine lining material inside. Cheap leather bags will not have that feature. Manufacturers of the cheaper products are trying to keep the cost down as much as possible. Cheaper handbags have low-grade linings and low grade hardware on them. They will wear out and fall apart in no time. Top full grain leather's come from top grade hides and have no imperfections. Top grain leather's are extremely long wearing. It is extremely durable and over years of use, it darkens to its full beautiful patina in various stages. The skins of young cattle are usually used for full grain handbags and are highly sought after due to their fine quality and smooth texture.

So is it worth it to purchase a purse or bag made by Louis Vuitton or AmeriBag? Yes, you will. And you will have a quality, long lasting bag that will make a real fashion statement with your outfit.

The higher end shops that sell Coach pocket books at full price send their out-of-season purses to the Coach outlet. The reason for this is because the larger store generally has a high profit count. In order to make a good profit, they have to send their clearance merchandise on to a Coach outlet in order to free up more floor space for the current styles.

Over at Ars Technica, another article is posted by someone wishing to convince the administration, and the public at large, that the DTV transition date should not be extended.

Canada DevDays 2004

Thu, 12 Feb 2004 14:21:00 GMT

Ever since I read about the Microsoft DevDays 2004 event I rushed to their site in order to find out if there was any Canadian cities listed! Unfortunately, I could not find any information related to a Canada DevDays event occurring after 2001.

At first I thought that this year's event was US-only, but then I stumbled upon David Cumps' reports from Belgium DevDays and then Roy Osherove writing about Israel DevDays!

Sure, the January issue of INETA mentions a Microsoft Canada Campus Tour organized by DotNetStudents.ca. There is also Steven Smith from ASPAlliance who gave a great speech at the Montreal Visual Studio User Group on February 10th 2004. But that's pretty much it for the coming months.

This is very sad because I would have been one of the first to register for this event! Hopefully next year we will see a Canada DevDays 2005?

UPDATE:
Phil Weber also mentionned in the comments, VSLine! in Toronto in early May 2004. Great!
